DESCRIPTION - This one-day course in Paediatric Emergency First Aid course will be suitable to anyone with an interest in child and baby life support. (It may suffice requirements of those working with children over the age of 5 years.) However if you are a professional i.e. School staff, Child Minders, Playgroup Personnel, Crèche staff and Youth Leaders this course may only partly fulfil the requirements of your setting, with regards to OFSTED and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
To obtain the full qualification you will need to attend the two day course to obtain the second unit J/ 600/2037 – Managing paediatric illness and injury. To check your requirements refer to OFSTED and the EYFS websites.
DURATION - A minimum of 6 hours (excluding breaks), including both practical and theoretical work.

SYLLABUS - If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included in our syllabus, or you require a more in-depth session, then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.

CERTIFICATION/ASSESSMENT - Subject to an ongoing assessment by the tutor and successful completion of a multiple choice question paper. Candidates will be issued with a Unit accreditation certificate in Paediatric First Aid, which is valid for three years. This can be re-newed by attending another one day course.
The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders attend an annual refresher programme of minimum three hours duration.
NUMBERS/ELIGIBILITY - A maximum of 12 candidates can be accommodated on this course and each participant must be at least 14 years old. A candidate cannot resume responsibility in the workplace for children and Infants until they reach the age of 16 and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the candidate is suitable for the role.
LOCATION/ SIZE - We are able to deliver this course on your premises, as long as the area/room is suitable for the course and number of candidates. (If you do not have a suitable venue we can arrange one at a reasonable cost.)
